Learn about how to apply for another J1 internship program.
I am Interested in Applying for Another J-1 Internship/Trainee Program. Am I Eligible?
Intrax requires our participants to remain outside of the United States for at least 90 days between visas.
If you are still eligible for a J-1 Intern visa, you may apply for a subsequent J-1 Internship, so long as the start date is 90 days after your departure from the United States. To be eligible for a J-1 Intern visa, you must be currently enrolled in a degree or certificate program or have graduated no more than 12 months prior to the proposed program start date. The degree or certificate program must be academic in nature, at least a two-year program, and recognized by the local Ministry of Education or other government agency empowered to accredit academic institutions.
Participants of a J-1 Intern or Trainee program may only apply for subsequent J-1 Trainee programs after residing outside of the United States for two years. This eligibility requirement is for J-1 Trainee visas only and does not affect your eligibility for other visa types, including other J1 categories.
Regarding Section 212e Home-country Physical Presence Requirement
Your J-1 visa may indicate that you are not subject to the two-year home residency requirement. This is in reference to the Section 212e Home-country Physical Presence requirement, which is separate from the requirement to remain outside of the United States for at least two years between J-1 Trainee programs.
